AusCycling is pleased to confirm that all State and Territory BMX Championships will be conducted as “Open” Championships in 2021. This will allow all AusCycling racing members to participate in any State or Territory Championships occurring in Australia.

The decision to conduct all BMX Championships as Open events allows AusCycling to provide more opportunity to our members to plan how they want to participate and enjoy the sport as well as deliver a consistent approach throughout Australia.

The State and Territory Championships have been confirmed to take place on:

  • Tasmania - Wynyard BMX: September 12, 2021

  • Queensland: Ipswich & West Moreton BMX - September 20-26, 2021

  • Western Australia: Bunbury BMX: September 30 – October 2, 2021

  • New South Wales – Hawkesbury BMX: October 1-3, 2021

  • Northern Territory – Red Centre BMX: October 1-2, 2021

Kipp Kaufmann, General Manager – Events & Racing, was excited for the consistent format approach stating, “Providing additional racing opportunities to our members will help support the development of riders and give them more options to participate.”

Specifically, the recognition at BMX State and Territory Championships will be conducted as:

  • All State and Territory Championships will be conducted as Open events

  • Interstate riders can claim medals

  • The top rider from the State or Territory will be awarded the Champion Jersey and Title of “State/Territory Champion” and will be awarded the State / Territory plates

  • In line with the AusCycling BMX National Cup regulations only riders from the Home State or Territory may score points for the National Cup at the State/Territory Championships.

This will exclude the Superclass Championship which will be conducted to allow interstate riders to claim the State/Territory Champion title, jersey, prizes and plates.
