After severe rain and flooding disrupted competition, the 2022 AusCycling BMX State and Territory Series - ACT/NSW returned for the first time since March.
Batemans Bay BMX Club hosted 497 riders in the third instalment of the series after Round 3 was rescheduled to June 19 due to flooding in the Hawkesbury region.
After finishing sixth in the opening moto, San Remo’s Noah Elton ended the afternoon strongly in his first-ever final to claim his first Superclass Men win.
Despite having two ninth-place finishes to his name after the first two rounds, the victory sees Elton sitting third overall in the category with 164 points.
Maitland’s Harrison Davis, who now leads the Superclass Men, came in second while Tuggeranong’s Aidan Nemet was able to recover from a DNF in moto one to claim third.
Meanwhile, Zoe Cooper (Terrigal BMX Club) went one better than her second-place finish at Tuggeranong in Round 2 to take out the Superclass Women category in flawless form.
Her successful outing, however, wasn’t enough to shoot her into first on the overall standings. Holding onto that spot is Gemma-lee Thomas (Castle Hill BMX Club) who crossed the line in second at Batemans Bay while clubmate Sophie Craig followed in third.
Porschea Longbottom (Maitland Tenabit BMX Club) and Billy Smidt (San Remo BMX Club) took their first wins of the series, winning the junior women’s and men’s superclass respectively.
