Announcing the AusCycling National Volunteer Recognition Program

National Volunteer Recognition Program Logo

AusCycling knows our sport thrives due to the efforts of our many volunteers. Volunteering brings people together; it builds communities and creates a better society for everyone.

A volunteer is anyone who undertakes a role at a club, at events or within the community that is unpaid or is only paid for expenses incurred.

To celebrate the commitment and impact of volunteers, we are launching a National Volunteer Recognition Program. Additionally, thanks to the support of our partners, effective immediately, non-riding memberships will be free of charge* for volunteers.

*Whilst the AusCycling fee has been removed, Club fees will remain the jurisdiction of individual Clubs therefore any contribution will go directly to Clubs.

Volunteer Commissaire MTB

Our clubs, communities and members rely on the outstanding attributes that our volunteers bring to the sport. These include reliability, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to learn quickly, decision-making and problem-solving.

If you know of an AusCycling member who is a volunteer and possesses these or other great qualities, someone with a history of commitment or somebody who is a great local fixture, why not put them forward for this special recognition?

Volunteers will be acknowledged by AusCycling and the Santos Tour Down Under on a dedicated page on our website and at key moments throughout the year, such as during National Volunteer Week (May 16-22).

Nominated volunteers will be candidates for the State/Territory Volunteer of the Year. These will be awarded by discipline – e.g.: BMX Volunteer of the Year NSW.

State/Territory winners will be candidates for the National Volunteer of the Year by discipline – e.g.: MTB Volunteer of the Year National.

The recipients will be announced in December 2022 and recognised officially at the 2023 Santos Tour Down Under, proud sponsors of this initiative.

Please note: The new AusCycling National Volunteer Recognition Program runs separately to the existing Meritorious and Service awards.
