AusCycling BMX COVID-19 Update

LogoLogoNAT

In response to the developing situation nationally concerning COVID-19 outbreaks and related restrictions, AusCycling is providing an update on several BMX events.

After consultation with our hosts, government agencies, and riders, we have made the decision to make changes to:

  • AusCycling BMX National Championships

  • AusCycling BMX National Cup

  • ACT/NSW BMX State Series and Championships

  • Victorian BMX State Series and Championships

We understand there will always be disappointment, however we are committed to hosting as many events as possible this year. While changes will not suit everyone, we remind riders that they can scratch at any time through EntryBoss and receive an immediate refund.

AusCycling BMX National Championships

After widespread consultation with a range of stakeholders, it has been determined that the AusCycling BMX National Championships will be moved from Perth, Western Australia to the Gold Coast, Queensland.

The decision follows discussions with the Western Australian government and a review of the latest health advice and travel restrictions which would affect the ability of many competitors to attend the National Championships.

Following an agreement between AusCycling and Major Events Gold Coast, the championships will now be held at Nerang BMX Club, Gold Coast, between December 8-12. Full event details can be found here.

AusCycling will continue working with Tourism WA and the City of Stirling to ensure that future major BMX events to be hosted in Western Australia and further details will be released in due course.

While it was a difficult decision to move the championships, all involved recognised the importance of making the event as accessible as possible, particularly as the BMX National Championships have not been held since March 2019.

AusCycling will continue to monitor latest health advice and will provide updates as required. A refund will be provided for any member who has already entered the BMX National Championships, and new entry links, opening and closing dates and other details of the event will be provided in November.

AusCycling BMX National Cup

Rounds 3 and 4 of the National Cup at Nerang BMX club will now be held on December 4-5.

The National Cup event scheduled for Westside BMX Club (Round 6) will no longer be conducted.

BMX National Cup Series Points Calculations

Due to the change in the schedule and reduction of events as a result of the evolving Covid-19 situation, border closures and government restrictions, AusCycling has reviewed the points calculation for the National Cup Series.

BMX State/Territory Series Qualification and Points Calculation

AusCycling is committed to presenting the State Series awards in ACT/NSW and Victoria, regardless of the number of events that are conducted. As a result, of the reduction in rounds, we have made the decision to alter the series points calculation and qualification for those States. There will be no change to the BMX State/Territory Series points calculation or qualification requirements in the NT, QLD, SA, TAS or WA.

ACT/NSW

  • Will include all State Series rounds conducted, minus the score from your worst round.

  • NO series qualification required

Victoria
