A message from AusCycling inaugural Chair, Duncan Murray:
Welcome to AusCycling. It has been a long journey to get here, but I could not be more excited about the future of Australian Cycling. AusCycling is the change that allows our great sport, no matter your preferred discipline, to be developed in a way that lets it fulfil its enormous potential. Over the first few months we will be very focussed on the complicated task of bringing together 16 teams of people across many forms of cycling to create one team, one culture across all States, Territories and major cities of Australia.
The change we are making is enormous and will not be without it's teething issues. The prize at the other end is worth it. Our expanded remit to be an organisation for all cyclists will allows us to deliver dividends community, Clubs, advocacy and pathways.
The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented surge in bike sales, with community interest in cycling at an all-time high. We have much to do to capitalise on this increased interest to the benefit all cyclists and we will give it everything we have.
Finally, there are too many people that I would like to thank and congratulate to mention here, so I will single out only three - Steve Drake, Shane Coppin and Martin Shaw, the outgoing CEOs of CA, MTBA and BMXA, who have played such a large and selfless task in getting us to this point. To them and everyone else who has played a role in the extraordinary 'coming together', thanks and well done.
Duncan Murray, Chairman, AusCycling
