Major domestic events are an important focus for development athletes and AusCycling recognises that attendance can be a significant time and financial burden on families. The NJTP gives the opportunity for U17, U19 and U23 riders to attend selected events without requiring parent/guardian accompaniment, and under the supervision of experienced and accredited coaches and staff. Athletes are met at the destination airport and are under the care of AusCycling staff until they are on their returning flight at the end of the camp.
Due to the ongoing requirement to isolate positive COVID cases and the duty of care and logistical challenges this presents with unaccompanied junior athletes travelling interstate the NJTP has been put on hold until the end of October 2022.
The Sport Australia Local Sporting Champions program provides funding of between $500 and $750 for athletes aged between 12 and 18 attending School Sport, State or National Championships, and International events where the applicant is part of the official AusCycling team. More information is available on the Sport Australia website HERE.
Selection criteria for the MTB World Championships (all disciplines), Commonwealth Games (XCO) and the Olympics (XCO) can be found on the Australian Cycling Team website HERE.
The AusCycling Sport Pillar administers individual Australian rider entries for all MTB and CX World Cups. This includes both riders with and without the required minimum UCI points. Riders without the required minimum UCI points must apply for a Federation entry. Riders on UCI listed teams are entered by their team.
