Bundaberg Cycling Spectacular gears up for action-packed carnival

After hosting a hugely successful AusCycling Junior State Road Championships - Queensland in September, Bundaberg Cycling Club is shifting its focus towards its upcoming track carnival, the Bundaberg Cycling Spectacular in November.

The carnival will consist of two days of racing, scheduled for November 5-6, with huge cash prize pools on offer for all categories from Under 9 to Masters.

One of Queensland’s favourite regional carnivals, the Bundaberg Cycling Spectacular always provides an exciting weekend of racing, culminating in the iconic wheel races which offer equal prize money for men and women.

The Kevin Brogden Memorial Velodrome is one of the few remaining flat track velodromes in Queensland and offers competitors a uniquely challenging track for the weekend’s racing.

At 400m in length, the track tends to deliver the craftiest, however, not always the strongest rider to the finish line first.

2021 sees the Bundaberg Cycling Spectacular return its focus solely to track racing, with the entire weekend dedicated to the carnival and centred around the wheel races.

Bundaberg Cycling Club president Wayne Morden said the track carnival will be "more Queensland focussed", when he spoke to Bundaberg Now.

"And we have been engaging with people from New Zealand and along the east coast of Australia to make it happen," he said.

Entries for the Bundaberg Cycling Spectacular close Sunday, October 31.
