COVID-19 Update December 1: Return To Sport and Training

LogoLogoSA

As of Tuesday, December 1 we are pleased to announce the relaxing of restrictions around community sport and recreation. Effective immediately, all community sport and recreation can resume! As such , we have updated our current ACSA COVID-19 Advice.

What this means for the majority of us is that we can go back to organised training, coaching and racing wherever there is a COVID Safe Plan in place. Organisers are required under their COVID Safe Plans to make a QR Code Check-in available to you as a participant, and we encourage you all to download the My SA Gov app so that you can quickly and easily check in when you arrive at a training session or event.

Group rides and training without an official organiser can now resume in earnest, however in the interest of forward-thinking and the possibility of someone on your group ride contracting the virus and requiring contact tracing, it is encouraged that you ride in groups with people you know, and keep some kind of a record of who you rode with and when (where possible). Should SA Health need to trace your contacts, this will make it much easier to work out who they need to get in touch with!

AusCycling SA would like to remind the cycling community and our membership that while we are allowed to return to sport, we need to be mindful that there is currently a cluster of cases of the Coronavirus that could be looming in our greater community. Every effort should be taken to minimise your exposure to others where possible, and while not participating in a sporting activity, social distancing should be observed (staying 1.5m away from others at all times). It is important that even those among us who feel in good health and perhaps a little invincible in the face of this virus could well be the vector which allows the virus to travel throughout our community and our families, reaching those who are at higher risk, more susceptible to illness or not as able-bodied. It is our responsibility to those people to ensure we do the right thing and limit the possibility of transmission wherever we can.
