FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The BMX State & Territory Championships will be classed as 'Open Championships', meaning that a rider from any State/Territory with an AusCycling Off-Road or All-Discipline membership may enter into any of the BMX State & Territory Championships. International riders may also participate if they have a current UCI License from a recognised National Federation.

A rider is only eligible for the title of State/Territory Champion in one State/Territory based on their primary club (based on the State/Territory to which the Primary Club is allocated).

Where a rider from outside of the State/Territory participates and finishes first - they will be ineligible to receive the Jersey, with the first placed individual from that State/Territory awarded with the Jersey (applicable to Superclass, Junior Superclass and 30+ Open Wheel only).

No late entries will be permitted for any of the BMX State & Territory Championships. Entries must comply with the closing date for each championship as outlined in the relevant State/Territory Championships Technical Guide.

BMX State & Territory Championship events are open to any rider however, only riders from a primary club situated or allocated within the State/Territory holding the event will receive National Cup series points for that State/Territory.

  • For many riders, racing in 20” is their primary focus. Feedback has been that by having Cruiser Championships first many riders were electing not to participate in the Cruiser events as they wanted to ensure they weren’t fatigued or were injured before the 20” racing. By making the alteration, to put 20” first, it is hoped that all those riders who previously wouldn’t enter Cruiser will now participate.
  • While the change was based on rider feedback, the current number of Cruiser entries being received at majority of events is quite low and in many State/Territories. While this switch of days could allow people to leave the event early, it is hoped that the BMX Community will make participation more attractive and help support the event as a whole by increasing the number of entries in Cruiser.
  • By switching the days, it also allows the event to finish slightly earlier on the final day, allowing for riders to travel home. When 20” was the final day, the final day was longer and if delays were present, it could cause delays in travel time home from the event.
  •  The Event Schedule has been set as the same format (i.e. 20” before Cruiser) across all State/Territory Championships.

Based on the feedback received from the 2021 BMX State/Territory Championships, riders wanted more from the prizing provided. As such the entry fees have been increased with the money from the increase going directly into the prizing being issued.
