Jai Hindley is Western Australia’s 24-year-old leading road cyclist and the only one to have finished higher than any of his other Australian counterpart in the history of the esteemed Giro d’Italia. By coming second, this performance by Hindley at the Italian Grand Tour was highly lauded as it was just his third grand tour start.

The first among the many jewels to be added to his young crown was that of being rewarded with ‘The West Australian RAC Sports Star of the Year’ award for 2020. Attaining this reward was no mean feat as some of the names in this award pool included world stars like pro golfer Minjee Lee, Australian cricketer Ashton Agar and Perth Wildcats guard Bryce Cotton, among the rest.

Gordon Hindley, the proud father of Jai had a few candid words to share on his son’s recent accolade, “We are delighted that Jai’s achievements have been recognized with this prestigious award. It is very satisfying to see that Cycling is being held in such high esteem by West Australians.”

The entire team at AusCycling congratulates Jai Hindley on winning this award.
