Rebecca Henderson (Primaflor Mondraker Genuins) has opened her UCI World Cup season up with a podium at Mairipora, Brazil.

The multiple World Cup winner claimed a silver medal in the short track cross-country, seven seconds behind English woman Evie Richards (Trek Factory Racing).

Henderson would fight her way back from fifth in the final two laps to battle Alessandra Keller (Thomus Maxon) for the minor placings.

It's the 24th time the Canberran has stood on a World Cup podium.

In the XCO the Australian champion would finish 19th, with Jenny Rissveds (Team 31 Ibis Cycles Continental) taking the opening round win.

In her first elite women’s World Cup race Zoe Cuthbert (Team 31 Ibis Cycles Continental) would finish 37th in the XCC and 40th in the XCO.
