is delighted to deliver

Women's Mountain Bike Maintenance Workshops

 in Alice Springs.

Intermediate Workshop

Do you feel a little bit of anxiety when mountain biking because you don’t know how to fix a broken chain or plug a hole in your tubeless tyres? Does it annoy you that you have to rely on someone else or pay someone to tune your gears, fix rubbing brake pads or replace brake pads? Do you feel like you’re bike isn’t working as safely, comfortably or effectively as it could because you don’t know how to tighten the headset or set suspension pressure and sag?

Is it time to develop your learning and understanding of bike maintenance, solve chain, gear, brake and suspension problems yourself, stop paying others to fix them, be informed and empowered, service your bike so it works more effectively, and have more fun riding?

Well, the answer is here: Intermediate Women's Mountain Bike Maintenance Workshop.

This workshop is intended to develop bike maintenance skills for female mountain bikers in a supportive, safe, and positive environment. Mum’s and daughters are welcome to register for one place and come to the workshop together.

The following topics may be covered in the course (please list what you want to learn in the registration process):

Intermediate

·       Fix a broken chain

·       Tune gears

·       Fix rubbing brake pads

·       Replace brake pads

·       Plug a hole in tubeless

·       Tighten headset

·       Set suspension and sag

·       You will receive a printout of key tasks covered during the workshop

Intermediate Workshop (insert link here)

·       8.00am – 10.00 Saturday 26 November 2022

·       1 Gall St East Side NT 0870

·       only 6 places

·       $60 (50% discount for CARR members = $30, check email for the discount code).

Imagine you have learnt and practised how to fix a broken chain so if it happens while mountain biking you can continue riding rather than go home. What would it be like to be able to tune gears whenever they start to not change smoothly, plug a hole in your tubeless tyre so you can keep riding and not have to buy a new tyre, and fix and change brake pads? Imagine your bike feels strong, balanced and predictable because you are confident to do a thorough bike check including headset and suspension. You can be informed and empowered. You deserve this. Sign up now to make it happen.

These workshops will be facilitated by Emma Shearer, an experienced mountain biker and teacher for 10 years. Ever since Emma arrived in Alice Springs she has dived into learning as much as she can about mountain biking. She loves riding fast, is a long-term key member of the CARR committee, supports the development of junior and female mountain biking in her role as a teacher and leader in the Women’s Social MTB Group, and enjoys the mechanics of bikes. She recently completed a Certificate II in Bicycle Mechanical Technology and is an AusCycling MTB Development Instructor.

Participants to bring:

·       Your bike to practice most tasks.

·       A tube for sliming if possible
