Ipswich set to host the 2021 BMX State Championships!

AusCycling Queensland are proud to announce that the 2021 BMX State Championships will be happening in Ipswich, hosted by the Ipswich BMX Club, from the 20th – 26th September 2021.

A tumultuous 2020 saw masses of events being cancelled and rescheduled across the globe. The 2020 BMX State Championships, originally set to be hosted at the Ipswich Track, saw a change of venue, due to reasons surrounding COVID-19, to the Sleemans Sport Complex allowing the event to proceed.

AusCycling Queensland have been working alongside the Ipswich BMX Club to ensure the State Championship event will be delivered in a high standard, ensuring members experience quality racing, in a safe environment for athletes, volunteers, staff, officials and spectators.

General Manager of AusCycling Queensland Sean Muir supports the Ipswich BMX Club in their planning into the Championship event.

“We look forward to continuing to work with the Ipswich BMX Club President Karley Bryce, and the entire Committee, Officials, and Volunteers to deliver the best BMX State Championship” said Muir.

The commencement of AusCycling signals a change for all cycling disciplines, streamlining and altering processes in an attempt to better the sport holistically. In the near future, AusCycling aims to release a process for regional and SEQ Clubs to bid to host the State Championship event beyond 2021. The process will aim to allocate the event three years in advance, with different locations secured to provide host clubs time to plan and members the time to plan their racing schedules.

AusCycling Queensland now turns its focus to securing host locations for the Cities and Countries.
