What would be a better way to start the road season than the 'Ride of Truth'.

The opening race of the season saw riders competing in the picturesque Meander Valley, taking advantage of the opportunity to race on the same course as the upcoming 2021 State Time Trial Championships being held on 17th April.

The Juniors and Para-cyclist categories competed in the morning, with some riders setting PBs from their last year's times.

Young Noah Blazely stepped up to provide Ethan Howard some competition and took out second place in the U/13 category, whilst their older siblings Connor Howard and Thomas Blazely claimed first and second places in the U/15 Boys.

Lucy Oliver continued her winning form from taking out this year's Bums on Seats Series to win fastest time in the U/15 Girls, followed by Sybille O'Rourke in second place and it was wonderful to have Addison Brumby back racing to take third place.

Two of the most improved riders from the track season, Felicity Wilson-Haffenden and Jack O'Rourke claimed the U/17 aged categories, while Eugenie O'Rourke won the U/19 Women’s race. Josh Hanigan returned for his first race after a break to smash his time from last year's Championships and claiming the win in the U/19 Men's race.

We welcomed James Fergus our para-cyclist back, who took an impressive win in the para-cyclist division.

In the afternoon, the Elite and Masters competed in a graded time trial race.

Tim Burford loves a time trial and took to take fastest time in F Grade. Julian Barons narrowly won E Grade from fastest female rider Kristy Grubits. We welcome Jared Weisse who won fasest time for possibly his last ride in D grade, while time trial specialist Phil Jarvie showed the class it takes to win C Grade. A week after competing in the Coles Bay Half Triathlon, Tim O’Shannessey was pleased with his ride to win B grade. Josh Wilson, in true Josh Wilson style, smoked the course and laid down the fastest time of the day and victory in A grade.

Full results will be available soon.

The Meander Valley Time Trial was all made possible by the Cradle Coast Cycling Club, our Commissaire Team, the Volunteers who assisted to ensure the race was conducted safely and our sponsor Buckby Motors.

The next open road race is the Midson Roubaix, which will be held on the 10th April. Entries are now open. Click here for more details and to register.
